September 11 - Wind Pollination
Topic: Children explore the concept of wind pollination and propagation. Some plants need wind to reproduce, and some propagate themselves.

September 25 - Seasonal Weather
Topic: Children will realize that nature gives us many gifts. One gift is weather and seasons. Another is life cycle of seeds and impotance of planing by the seasons.

October 9 - Water Properties
Topic: Children will discover how important water is to life on earth. It is the Universal Solvent. Water is sticky, which means it has Cohesion.

October 23 - Water Ecosystems Managment
Topic: Children will demonstrate that water flows downhill with the force of gravity and creates erosion. In permaculture we learn how to Slow It, Sink It, Spread It.

November 6 - Earth - Soil Texture
Topic: Children will mix clay soil with sand and straw to see what happens. This is how we create COB, a Natural Building Material.

November 20 - Earth - Soil Life
Topic: Children will discover all the life forms in soil and in compost piles, which nurture the life of plants.

December 4 - Benefits of Fire in Ecosystems
Topic: Children will learn that Indigenous People used fire to revitalize the land.

December 18 - Fire - Benefits of Sunlight
Topic: Children will understand a bit about photosynthesis and how the source of all life is from the sun.

🌿 Global Kids Garden & Nature Series
Give your child a joyful season of outdoor learning, creativity, and connection at Our Global Family Farm. Designed for children ages 3–8 (younger siblings welcome with parent participation), these Waldorf and Indigenous-inspired classes blend gardening, nature exploration, hands-on crafts, songs, stories, and community.

Single Class: $40 per session / per family (Maximum 4 people)
Full 8-Class Series: $300 per family (Maximum 4 people)
Additional Family Members: $25 per additional person (if more than 4 people)
Families are welcome to sign up for individual dates that fit their schedule or join the complete 8-class series for the full experience.

Global Kids Experiences at Our Global Family Farm (located at City Farm SLO)
There is a whole world of edible plants for families to explore at Our Global Family Farm. We now welcome young families with toddlers to come visit for a two-hour experience.
This nature experience includes scavenger hunting, singing, storytelling, hands-on gardening, art, games, visiting farm animals, mini-lessons, harvesting, and being immersed in nature. It is a Waldorf and Permaculture inspired Parent Participation program for families. This program is co-sponsored with the WillowRoots Co-op and Our Global Family Farm.
Our Global Family Farm features food crops from the “four corners of the globe.” It is a permaculture Food Forest with a polyculture of diverse plantings including fruit trees, vegetables, berries, herbs, flowers, and shrubs. There are three picnic tables, a climbing structure, chickens, a bamboo stage and an outdoor kitchen. Come explore soon! We love to see families come to enjoy the natural paradise. We like to call it the “Garden of Eatin’.”
Reservations should be made two weeks in advance. Payments with Venmo will secure your spot. Cash or check or other payments for the program. Release of Liability and Photo Release forms will be signed in person. Families can bring their own snacks and picnic lunch. Please have children wear hats and strong shoes.
